I was just looking through the different presentations that were made at the AAYSP conference in DC. I found the presentation by Dr. Nasher to be very important to share with you. http://www.aaysp.org/conference/conf07presentations/drNasher.pdf The presentation is very honest as it describes the obstacles Yemen faces in developing a viable Higher educatopn system. It is difficult for a professional Yemeni educator in the west to step away from a six figure salary at the hight of their career to go to Yemen and face all these obstacles. I think as students, experienced professionals, and educators at this forum, we should look at all these obstacles and analyze different ways we can help reduce them. For example Main Obstacles to Research • Access to information is limited – The library: – Library collections are very old. – Access to journals and books is limited. – new acquisitions are random, and are not tied to the overall development of the university, either for research or for teaching. I think that Yemeni students and educators in the west with access and sub......ions to Paper Journals, and electronic research articles can help other researchers in Yemen. I know many of the obstacles are financial and systemic, but the minimum we can do is speak out against them. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
