one info bevor temani is the yemen jews

What have they done to you, oh Yemen??!!

What have they done to you?
Yemen, once shining gloriously as the light of Arabia
The South, the Strenght, the Beginning, the Foot
Yemen, the Righteous one on the Top of the Island
The pride of kings, the home of queens, beautiful as if being the mirrors of paradise
Wisdom, Light, all this was at home in you, oh Yemen
    Mountains of endless height
Hidden by clouds of mystery, myrrhe and the sweet smell of freedom
Vast fields, open to everyone to stretch out his arms and reach the sky
    Feeling at home, feeling free
Your gardens, oh Yemen, filled with joy and birds and fruits of deliciosity as if from the heaven
Water spreading up and down, giving you life
The landscape, a friend, ready to hide, protect in the North
Opening to the freedom of waters in the South
    Yemen, loved by so many
Your warmth and health, your jewellery in your hands
And you were the jewellery itself
For the whole lands of Arabia
Hazarmawet once build you up in the height
And Teman gave you the name for your Southern borders
Your trees, seemed to be planted by G"d
Your people, under the shine of G"d s Beauty
Open to friends, and strong in facing the evil
You gave the freedom to thousand minds, you were the open mind of thousands,
Shield and hope, hold together by the love to you
There was no one like you, oh Yemen, there was no one

    But time passes....

You are still in the South, oh Yemen, you are the Southern and the Last
Your lands dry up, and the water fleeding down from the mountains
Ends up in stones, it is dried by the sun and the greed
Your gardens are filled of self-eating arms of destruction
Your joy messed up with foreign gold
The fruits wither, the birds fly away,
The heaven falls down on earth
There is nothing more to protect, so the lands throw out instead of holding back
There was one, he came from the desert, highened and powerful
Clothed with evil, decorated with cleverness
And you were blind from the sun, oh Yemen, and from the false glory
You even did not hide, you opened your arms
To take on the chains and change freedom into compulsion
And later myrrhe into black oil
    The ones who love you
They do not know a word how to describe their love
And it dries up, this love, oh Yemen, and loses itself in the vast fields
Because no one is coming to pick it up
There was one, he came from the South, he brought chaos and blankness
Making the faces of brothers looking like the ones of strangers
And whirling you into senseless, groundless future
Kings are no more, they left to make place for growing and expanding devastation
Queens are imprisoned and the keys are thrown away
They are ashamed to look outside
    The day is spit out
    The night is forgotten
    The mind is captured
    The love is beaten away
Yemen, where are they, all of them who renewed your soul, lightened the dreams
Yemen, why did they run away, run away from the once embracing home which expulsed them of it while forcing them to stay
Yemen, who are they who brought you into anarchy and sameness, darkened you and paralyzed you
Yemen, what have they done to you?
    Why did you allow it?...

    *

Once I saw your children sitting on vasted places,
With motionless legs, faces and minds
They closed the eyes to daylight, hiding behind words
And searched blind for a way at night
Crowding and rolling around them their small, dark, old horizon
And turning away from the sun
There was a child, a new root, about to be planted into soil of dust
It was still young, curious and expecting,
Leaning at the father who himself sunk into a hole of dust
Yemen, who is this putting you at the edge of the border of life
Once we swirled in happy circles in your wadis, your daughters were all like mothers, the doors were open and the stones inviting
Now the ones left, gaining freedom and motion, the others stayed, gaining the yellow silence
The Pearl lost the colour, the dyer are too late, they forgot their work
Yemen, what have they done to you?
    And will you ever care?..

    *

My tears will trickle away in the red sands
Just as they did years ago, when there children feel asleep forever at Mauza'
The ones who could hear me, will be sleeping
And I will go, crying and moaning, and the dreams will be dreamt to the end in another land
    And will never return.
